Some careers start with a dream, while others unfold unexpectedly—just like Chase Austin’s path to interior design. After spending seven years with Dutch Bros Coffee, working his way from barista to corporate operations, Chase discovered a new passion brewing: interior design.
While opening new Dutch Bros locations across the country, Chase stumbled upon Heritage School of Interior Design in Denver—and something clicked. He had always known Denver was the place he wanted to plant roots, and once he found Heritage, he took a leap of faith, making the move to pursue his long-held creative aspirations.
From HGTV Fan to Future Interior Designer
Chase’s love for design began early. From obsessing over HGTV to decorating his own spaces, he always had an eye for aesthetics. But it wasn’t until he found himself craving a career that blended both creativity and analytical thinking that he realized interior design was the perfect fit.
“I thrive in fast-paced environments and tend to learn quickly, so this program has been a success so far,” Chase shares. The accelerated format at Heritage made it possible for him to pursue his passion without the time commitment of a traditional four-year degree.
A Bold Vision for the Future
Chase is drawn to bold, avant-garde, and mid-century design, finding inspiration in visionaries like Darren Jett (@jettprojects), Flack Studio (@flackstudio_), and Ben Willett (@willett). His dream? To work with a design firm that specializes in these styles—or to launch his own studio one day.
“I love creating spaces that leave a lasting impression,”— he says. His design philosophy revolves around vibrant colors, warm tones, and unique forms, with a strong passion for sustainable design—especially when it comes to incorporating vintage pieces.
Looking Ahead
As Chase nears the completion of his Master’s Certification program, he’s excited to take his knowledge into the real world.
“I am excited to complete the program here in Denver and bring my knowledge into the future!” he says.
With his energy, determination, and distinct creative perspective, there’s no doubt that Chase Austin is on the path to making a bold mark in the world of interior design. Stay tuned—this is just the beginning!
