Kelsie Wang graduated from the Heritage Seattle Master Certification Program in Winter 2021, and immediately landed her dream job as a Project Manager and Designer for a restaurant group in Seattle!
Kelsie had an innate passion for design but since the University she attended didn’t offer an Interior Design Program, she never considered Interior Design as a potential career path. She ended up receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Business with a concentration in Information Systems. Upon graduation, Kelsie traveled and took some time to explore job opportunities in Business.
Through her exploration, she came to the realization that she wasn’t passionate about what she was doing or the jobs she was interviewing for within the Business field. At a crossroads during her job search, Kelsie decided to do some research into Interior Design and stumbled upon Heritage. Kelsie felt encouraged that she could complete her education in interior design at a fast pace so she quickly reached out to the Student Relations Manager. As they say, the rest was history!
Heritage ultimately led me to my current dream job! I am the Project Manager & Designer for a huge restaurant group here in Seattle! It’s really the perfect marriage of business, interior design, and FOOD! All things I love and am passionate about. I knew I wanted to be in the commercial space and I wanted to be able to use my business degree, so this position was perfect for me. I’m still in the early days at the company but I’m really excited about it.
Kelsie is glad she never settled and kept pushing forward to have a career that she is truly passionate about. Kelsie enjoyed all of the courses she completed at Heritage, but the one that stood out and inspired her the most was Commercial Design.
I love the idea of the public being able to experience something that I’ve had a part in designing and that I would have the ability to revisit those spaces.
Although going back to school meant that Kelsie would have to work at a limited capacity and take on extra financial responsibilities, Kelsie is so thankful that she took a leap of faith to go back to school and find a career that she loves.
It was absolutely all worth it and I’d do it all over again!
