Congratulations to Heritage grad Kelly Basset and her new career as an in-home designer for Pottery Barn!
Kelly grew up on a cattle ranch in California, which inspired her love for the rustic, farmhouse style and interior design. “I would always try to use simple things around the house to create something new and beautiful to use as decor. I also loved picking flowers from the garden and creating flower arrangements in mason jars.” Kelly moved to Oregon for college and changed her major five times before realizing that what she really wanted to do as her career was interior design. “I knew that I needed to attend a school more focused on design. I found Heritage online and fell in love with the school’s website and made a phone call to the director, Stephanie. I instantly knew this is where I was supposed to be.” It was a leap of faith for Kelly to leave college to pursue her passion and love for design. Her parents supported her decision and gave her the confidence she needed to follow her dream of becoming an interior designer.
“My experience at Heritage has been incredible. I have received so much support from staff and my fellow students which has really made the experience more than amazing. I always tell people, ‘If I would have created my dream school for design it wouldn’t even compare to how great Heritage actually is.’” Throughout the program Kelly flourished as a designer and and prior to graduating she was hired by Pottery Barn. She will be working as interior designer, assisting clients with their projects in-store and also in-home visits. “I really couldn’t have been able to even dream of a more ideal job after graduating school! My job is so fun and I really can’t express how much of a blessing this job has been to launch my career!”
