Jordan transformed her career from software sales to interior design, fueled by a passion for creativity and aesthetics. Originally from New Hampshire and having lived in Boston, she made the bold decision to move to Denver, Colorado, in 2018. This move marked the beginning of a new chapter, when she enrolled in Heritage School of Interior Design to pursue her dream.
Discovering a New Career Path
The decision to pursue interior design stemmed from a desire for a creative career that would allow Jordan to blend her passion and work seamlessly. Despite enjoying the people and culture in the tech industry, she lacked passion for the products they sold. Interior design offered the perfect opportunity to channel her creativity, love for aesthetics, and desire to create meaningful solutions for clients.
Overcoming Challenges
Changing careers and moving across the country twice came with significant challenges. Jordan had to prioritize her career over other aspects of her life, travel less to see family and friends, and work multiple jobs to pay for schooling and the pay cuts that came with starting anew in a different industry. However, these challenges provided valuable lessons and a fresh perspective on the type of owner and employer she aspires to be.
Heritage School of Interior Design Experience
As part of the first Master’s Certification Program at Heritage School of Interior Design Denver, she experienced the journey of growth alongside her classmates. The experiences at Heritage were transformative, where they learned valuable lessons, forged friendships and mentorships, and gained the confidence to trust their instincts and move forward confidently into their new careers.
Current Design Projects and Future Goals
Jordan met the co-founder of her new design firm, Design House, at a design firm where they both worked and built a strong friendship. “Recognizing our complementary strengths, Lizzy and I knew early on that we wanted to continue working together in some capacity. Two years ago, over a glass of wine, we both decided to pursue our shared dream of starting our design firm and since then, we’ve been actively working towards that goal. When the opportunity to establish Design House finally arose in late 2023, it was a natural and fulfilling next step for both of us, and it has proven to be one of the best decisions ever made.” Design House is engaged in multiple residential remodeling projects, offering full-service design from concept to construction oversight and virtual design options. Their future goals include continuing to make design accessible to everyone, empowering clients to explore and embrace their unique design styles confidently and within their budgets.
Proud Moments and Advice
Jordan’s proud moments include completing her Master’s Certification and becoming a design assistant for one of Heritage School of Interior Design’s Kitchen & Bath Design instructors. The best advice she has received is that the best design projects are the ones where people broke the rules. Her future career goals include continuing to grow her design firm, Design House, and making a positive impact in the interior design industry.
