In our latest blog feature, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Juliette Hilaire, a Parisian college student currently immersing herself in the world of interior design at Heritage School of Interior Design! Join us as Juliette shares her background, her passion for design, and her experience at HSID:
Juliette, could you share a bit about your background and what led you to pursue interior design?
Of course! I’m originally from Paris and have been studying business management. However, my heart has always been drawn to creativity. I’ve spent countless hours redesigning spaces, both for myself and for friends and family. Interior design felt like a natural progression for me, allowing me to blend my love for aesthetics with my desire to create functional, beautiful spaces.
What inspired you to choose HSID for your interior design education?
I was particularly drawn to the comprehensive curriculum and the opportunity to learn from industry professionals. Also, the international setting and diverse student body appealed to me, offering a rich learning environment where I could thrive and grow as a designer.
How has your experience at HSID prepared you for a career in interior design?
My time at HSID has been transformative! Despite initially feeling apprehensive about studying in English as a native French speaker, I’ve been met with unwavering support from the HSID team and my classmates. The curriculum is rigorous and covers everything from design history to practical skills like client communication and project management. I now feel confident that I’m well-equipped to embark on a successful career in interior design.
What is the next step in your journey?
Through my education at HSID, I’ve uncovered a passion for set design. The art of arranging furniture and decor to bring stories to life on screen excites me! I’m especially drawn to the challenge of crafting the perfect atmosphere to complement the narrative. As I look ahead, I aspire to further my education in Paris, nurturing my passion and honing my skills.
Thank you, Juliet, for sharing your journey with us. We wish you all the best as you continue to pursue your passion for interior design!
