For Maddie Kuzik, a graduate of the Denver Fundamentals of Interior design program, design runs in the family. Maddie was introduced to design by her mother who worked in the field. Maddie learned at a young age that with good design, any space, no matter its condition, has the potential to create a sense of peacefulness, contentedness, and joy.
Prior to attending Heritage, Maddie received her degree in Communicaitons with a Minor in Business from Colorado State University. Post graduation she worked for the Colorado Rockies in the Sports Marketing department and then as a Marketing Coordinator at Northwestern Mutual. Though each position offered great experience, she wasn’t feeling fulfilled in corporate life and chose to seek a path where she could let her creative juices flow.
After talking with a friend who attended Heritage about her experience, Maddie immediately set-up a visit to the Denver campus. After a tour, she knew the program that would help her gain the knowledge about design that would allow her to transition to a career she loved.
Maddie graduated from Heritage in March 2020 and though she was nervous about finding a position due to the uncertainty around COVID, she began reaching out to firms anyway and landed an amazing position with Kim Layne Interiors in April. In her role as a Design Assistant, Maddie stated, “Everything I learned from Fundamentals of Interior Design and the technical classes, is exactly what I am using in my current position.”
“Everyone wanting to pursue a career in Interior Design must go to Heritage! I have colleagues that I still have contact with as well as professors that I talk to once in a while and get some expertise from. Heritage was truly a family experience.”
