After graduating from college with a focus in journalism and fine art, future Heritage Denver student Ashley Ludkowski, embarked on an 8-month adventure to South America. During her time there, she gained an entirely new eye for design and a deep passion for textiles. She moved to New York City following her adventure, where she worked for six years as an accessory product designer for a company that worked between NYC and Guatemala. In 2019 Ashley left NYC to start her own business, Selva Studio. As the owner of Selva Studio, Ashley found a natural progression from designing home good products to interior design, and soon incorporated interior design services into her business.
It was not long after starting her own business that Ashley discovered Heritage. What initially drew Ashely to Heritage was her desire to expand her interior design technology skills. She recognized that there is an ever-growing amount of software and technology involved in the design process. Ashely wanted to be sure, as a business owner, that she was incorporating these technology programs into her projects. Although she came to Heritage to gain technology skills, she left with a much broader understanding and appreciation for design development.
While at Heritage, Ashley discovered her love for commercial design. During the completion of the Commercial Design course, she enjoyed working with a team on large scale projects that incorporate both design and branding. Ashley hopes to grow Selva Studio into a business that takes on both residential and commercial projects. She loves bringing an authentic, handmade experience to her clients and her projects.
Ashely finds inspiration from many different facets of life, yet the textures and colors of the world on a micro-level are what truly ignites her creativity. From a wall in Peru to a teacup in Morocco to a tree leaf in Mexico, exploring cultures worldwide is at the foundation of her design. And if traveling is not available, she draws inspiration from photography.
Since graduating from Heritage, you can find Ashley designing textiles for her business, Selva Studio, or working on interior design projects. She loves helping her clients add the perfect touch of texture to any room! Whether that is in the form of a 15-foot rug or small throw pillow, there is no space too big or too small to add a globally-inspired texture.
