Rhonda Larson, the Executive Director of Heritage School of Interior Design in Denver, Colorado has lived in various states throughout her life, but Colorado has always been her favorite. She was born in Minnesota, then moved to Montana as a child and later to Portland, Oregon where she began her career in the medical field. A couple years into her career as a critical care nurse, she decided to explore a travel nurse contract, which led her to Denver. Her term with the original hospital was only three months but she ended up staying in Denver for eight years. It wasn’t difficult to fall in love with Colorado. During that time, her career in the medical field transitioned into design and delivery of complex training and education programs, then development of entire corporate training teams and departments, which took her to the San Francisco Bay Area for a few years and eventually back to Portland.
Rhonda had always been a maker, finder and curator of beautiful things, an artist in jewelry and metalsmithing, mixed media painting, bookarts, collage and assemblage, and a natural designer. Her life took an exciting turn when she decided to turn her lifelong passion for design into her career and discovered Heritage School of Interior Design. At the time she enrolled she had no idea that she would become a vital piece of the school’s expansion to Denver. While in Portland, Rhonda became an independent interior designer as “RL Design Studio” and shop owner of “Velvet and Burlap Home”. Stephanie and Rhonda grew close throughout Rhonda’s creative journey which is when it became apparent that Rhonda was a perfect fit for an Executive Director role at Heritage’s first new location. Rhonda had been looking for excuses to move back to Denver so this couldn’t have been a better opportunity!
Denver offers sunshine almost every day, mild winters and proximity to unlimited outdoor adventures in the surrounding Rocky Mountains. It has become an incredibly thriving, vibrant, cosmopolitan city, while encouraging a relaxed attitude and healthy lifestyle. Rhonda said “the city offers more now than it ever has!” Heritage Interior Design in Denver is located in the RiNo Art District which has developed beautifully over the years. The school shares a building with the Studio Como Showroom, offering stunning furniture, cabinetry and home decor. The school suite is what used to be the loading dock of the original warehouse building. It’s two levels with an entire wall of windows that can open all the way up to let the Denver sunshine in.
Rhonda truly encompasses the values of Heritage School of Interior Design and is committed to maintaining a high standard educational experience and cultivating a supportive, creative community. She is excited to share her skills and enthusiasm to inspire and guide new designers to discover and develop their talents to obtain a truly fulfilling career in interior design.
