Create your own textile designs for a variety of home goods applications such as clothing, tablecloths, curtains and more! In this class you will explore a variety of Relief Printmaking & Screenprinting techniques. Beginning with simple stamping using vinyl erasers and progressing to linoleum and finishing up in Screenprinting. Students will create a elegant designs, a repeating pattern while learning best practices in the studio as well as multi-color registration. Students will gain an understanding of how to operate a press, create relief plates, and prepare screens, fabric and paper, in addition to learning reduction relief carving and other printing methods. Image and mark-making, color interaction, strategies of layering, and composition are discussed and developed throughout this course. Current and historical applications of relief printmaking for artists and designers will be a focus during the course as a way to develop ideas, resources and inspiration.
